One of the questions I'm often asked is, "How often should I have a massage?" The honest answer is that there isn't one simple answer. It really depends on why you're having a massage, how your body is feeling and what you'd like to get from your treatments.
There isn't one simple answer.
It really depends on why you're having a massage and what you'd like to get from it.
Some people book a massage when they're feeling particularly tense or overwhelmed, while others make it part of their regular wellbeing routine. The important thing is finding a rhythm that works for you.

If you're new to massage
If you've never had a massage before, I'd always recommend starting with one treatment and seeing how you feel afterwards. From there, we can chat about what feels right for you rather than following a set schedule.
If this will be your very first massage, you might also find my guide, What Happens During Your First Massage? helpful. It explains exactly what to expect before, during and after your appointment, helping you feel more relaxed before you even arrive.
If you're carrying a lot of tension
If you're dealing with ongoing tension, you may find that having a few treatments closer together helps your body relax before moving to a maintenance routine.
Every person is different, so I'll always tailor my advice to you rather than suggesting a one-size-fits-all approach.
If you're booking for relaxation
Many of my clients enjoy having a massage every four to six weeks as part of their wellbeing routine. Others simply book when life feels particularly busy, they're feeling overwhelmed or they know they need a little time to themselves.

My advice
There isn't a right or wrong answer.
I'd much rather you have a massage every couple of months than feel pressure to book more often than feels right for you. Looking after yourself should never feel like another thing on your to-do list. It's about finding a routine that fits comfortably into your life.
Whenever you're ready...
Whether you choose to have a massage once a month or just a few times a year, my hope is always the same—that you leave feeling calmer, lighter and genuinely looked after.
If you'd like to start your own wellbeing routine, you can book your appointment online whenever you're ready. I'd love to welcome you to Cedar Rose Wellness in Urmston.
A note from Emma
Like many women, I've been navigating perimenopause myself, and one of the things I've found most challenging has been sleep.
Falling asleep has never really been the problem... it's the dreaded 3am wake-up, when your body is tired but your mind suddenly decides it's time to think about absolutely everything.
I've found that during particularly stressful times, having a massage gives me something I often struggle to give myself – permission to properly rest, even if it's just for an hour. It doesn't stop the 3am wake-ups, but it does help me feel calmer, more settled and like I've given both my body and mind the opportunity to pause.
That's one of the reasons I wanted to introduce Menopause Massage. I know there isn't a treatment that has all the answers, but if I can offer someone a peaceful hour where they feel supported, cared for and able to truly relax, then I feel I've done what I set out to do.
