Facial Rejuvenation Massage: More Than Just a Facial Massage

When you think about massage, you probably think about tight shoulders, an aching back or tired legs.
But we can hold an incredible amount of tension in our face too.
Clenching or grinding your teeth, concentrating at a screen, squinting, frowning, stress and simply being busy can all leave the muscles of the face, scalp and neck feeling tight and overworked.
And yet, it’s an area we rarely think about giving the same attention to.
That’s one of the reasons I wanted to bring Facial Rejuvenation Massage to Cedar Rose Wellness.
What is Facial Rejuvenation Massage?
Facial Rejuvenation Massage is a full 60-minute treatment dedicated to the face, neck and scalp.
This isn’t a facial with a little massage added in. The massage is the treatment.
It brings together a range of techniques, from slow, flowing massage movements to more focused work across the facial muscles. The aim is to ease areas of tension, encourage circulation and leave the face feeling softer, more relaxed and refreshed.
It’s surprisingly relaxing too. There’s something about having the face and scalp worked slowly and rhythmically that seems to encourage the rest of you to switch off as well.
What techniques are used?
This is where Facial Rejuvenation Massage becomes a little different from the facial massage you may already have experienced.
The treatment brings together techniques influenced by Japanese facial massage, Indian facial massage and acupressure, alongside more familiar massage movements. Each brings something slightly different to the treatment, and I move between them so it feels flowing rather than like a series of separate techniques.
Japanese-inspired techniques include rhythmic, precise movements across the face, working with the facial muscles while helping to stimulate circulation. Some are quicker and more energising, creating a lovely contrast to the slower parts of the massage.
Indian facial massage techniques bring in deeper, more focused work across the face, neck and scalp. These movements are particularly lovely for areas that can feel tight or overworked and add that grounding, deeply relaxing element that I naturally love to bring into my treatments.
Acupressure is woven throughout too, using gentle, sustained pressure on specific points around the face and head. These little pauses in the massage can feel incredibly calming, particularly around the temples, brow and scalp.
There are also gentle lifting, smoothing and flowing movements throughout, so the treatment continually changes pace — sometimes slow and soothing, sometimes more rhythmic and stimulating, and then back into stillness again.
It means I’m not simply massaging the surface of the skin for an hour. I’m spending time working across the face, neck and scalp, combining different traditions and techniques to create a treatment that feels both purposeful and deeply relaxing.
What are the benefits of Facial Rejuvenation Massage?
Everyone will experience a treatment differently, but Facial Rejuvenation Massage can help to:
Ease feelings of muscular tension in the face, neck and scalp
Encourage healthy circulation to the skin
Leave the face looking fresher and more rested
Create a softer, more relaxed lifted appearance
Encourage deep relaxation and a sense of switching off
Afterwards, your face may simply feel lighter.
I think that’s one of the nicest ways to describe it. We spend so much time doing things to the skin that sometimes it feels lovely to give some attention to everything underneath it too.
Is it good if I clench or grind my teeth?
If you’re someone who regularly clenches or grinds your teeth, you may already recognise that feeling of tension building through the face, temples, head and neck.
Facial massage won’t stop you clenching or treat the underlying cause, but working with the surrounding muscles can feel incredibly soothing and may help ease some of the muscular tightness left behind.
If clenching or grinding is persistent, painful or causing dental problems, it’s always worth speaking to your dentist or healthcare professional too.
Is Facial Rejuvenation Massage the same as a facial?
Is Facial Rejuvenation Massage the same as a facial?
Not quite.
My 60-minute Facial Rejuvenation Massage is all about the massage itself, with the full treatment time dedicated to working across the face, neck and scalp.
If you’d like the skincare element too, I also offer an 80-minute Facial Rejuvenation Ritual.
The Ritual combines the Facial Rejuvenation Massage with a simple facial routine — double cleanse, exfoliation and tone, followed by the massage, then serum and moisturiser to finish.
The extra time means you still get that lovely, unhurried facial massage, while your skin gets some attention too. It’s a good choice if you want to switch off completely but also leave with your skin feeling fresh, nourished and cared for.
Who is it for?
You don’t need to have a particular skin concern to enjoy this treatment.
You might choose it because your face often feels tense. You might spend a lot of time at a screen. You might clench your teeth without even realising it.
Or you might simply love massage and want to experience what it feels like when an entire treatment is devoted to an area that is so often overlooked.
For me, this treatment fits beautifully with what I already do at Cedar Rose.
It isn’t about trying to change your face or promising to turn back time.
It’s about working with the face you have, easing tension, encouraging circulation and giving you an hour where there is absolutely nothing you need to do.
And I think our faces deserve a little of that too.
